Breaking News:
Film Creates More Challenges for The Hunger Games?
One New Hampshire mother attempted to get the book The Hunger Games removed from the teachers out loud reading at Mountain View Middle school in New Hampshire. The parent stated that the violence gave her 11 year old nightmares. The school has told the parent that they will remove her child from the classroom while the teacher was reading the book. Even though the parent has not filled out the official paperwork the school has created a board to evaluate this book in the classroom.
In 2010 The Hunger Games was number five on the top 10 list for challenges and in 2011 it was number 3. This time it is joined by the two other books in the series“Catching Fire” and “Mocking Jay”. Of course now the reasons for challenging this book have expanded they now include "Anti-ethnic; anti-family; insensitivity; offensive language;occult/satanic; violence." It is thought that the increase from 5 to 3 on the list is because of controversies over the film, such as actor/actress selection. Another issue is that the books became more famous after the movie released and more children began to read them.
